Hey book lovers! I’m here with a book review for Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson. I bought this for a read-along that happened in October but didn’t end up reading it until recently. It took me a while to get into, but things picked up and it turned out to be a fun Young Adult novel.

My Review
“The problem with your best friend dying is that there’s no one to sit with you at funerals. It’s not the number one problem. Obviously, my best friend’s bloated, waterlogged corpse being lowered into the earth for the rest of eternity is currently at the top of my list of Emotionally Debilitating Things That Will Take the Rest of My Life to Recover From.”
ย โบ The town thinks Riley killed herself, but Mila believes her sixteen-year-old best friend was murdered. Two other teen girls, June and Dayton, have recently died by suicide and so when Riley was found dead by the river it was assumed that she was another suicide victim.
ย โบ Mila and Riley practiced Wicca. When a mysterious magic book shows up, Mila decides to try and raise her best friend from the dead so she can find out who killed her. Well…she succeeds…but gets more than she bargained for when June and Dayton also come back from the dead AND – there’s one catch – the spell “The Seven-Day Breath of Life” gives Mila just seven days to help Riley, June, and Dayton figure out how they died.
ย โบ At first I found Mila’s attitude annoying, but she grew on me and by the end, I was rooting for her to have all the good things.
ย โบ The big reveal left me with my jaw hanging. WOW. I haven’t had a book shock me like that in a long time. The last quarter of this novel is super-fast paced and very exciting.
ย โบ Final Thoughts
โข Undead Girl Gang is a fun YA mystery with quirky humour and creative zombie-teens that reminded me of the movie The Craft. It’s not a five-star read for me, however, I still recommend this one to anyone looking for a fun, witchy novel.
