My Review
โบ Shay is the data collector who shares facts from her databook throughout the novel. She has a crush on her roommate Sean, but he has a girlfriend. After witnessing 29-year-old Amanda kill herself by jumping in front of a train, Shay meets Amanda’s 30-something-year-old friend group at her memorial. The group is worried that Amanda revealed their big secret to Shay before killing herself. Cassandra is Jane’s older sister, Stacey is tech smart and a Marvel fan with a temper, Daphne owns a boutique and is obsessed with perfection, Beth is an attorney. You Are Not Alone is a twisty and confusing story about Shay becoming obsessed with the friend group, changing herself to fit their mold while they manipulate her to discover what she knows about Amanda’s death.
โบ I’m not a fan of the writing style. It felt all over the place and confusing with unrealistic dialogue. However, I really liked the narrator for the audiobook.

โบ Final Thoughts
โข You Are Not Alone isn’t a memorable thriller for me, but I will definitely check out future work by Hendricks and Pekkanen. There are many people in the book club who loved this…I honestly don’t know who to recommend to read this…I guess if you liked The Wife Between Us or An Anonymous Girl you’ll probably enjoy You Are Not Alone. For some reason, Goodreads claims Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is similar to You Are Not Alone, but…I’m not sure if I see that connection. It did give me the same feeling as The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica. If you give this a try I’d like to know what you think. Happy Reading!
